Supporter Open House + Saturday Challenge Observation

This event is for Explore Austin supporters and is an opportunity to meet some of our Explorers, Mentors and EA supporters, serve breakfast to our youth and witness a Saturday Challenge of rappelling on the greenbelt.

This is a “choose your own adventure” day! You can come for the morning portion to help serve breakfast to the Explorers, or you can do that plus observe a Saturday Challenge on the greenbelt immediately following.

8:00-9:30 am | Serve breakfast at the EA Warehouse | 4200 Burch Dr. Unit A-2, Del Valle, TX 78612

9:45-11:30 am, come and go | Saturday Challenge observation on the greenbelt (location details to come)

Texas Parks & Wildlife x Explore Austin Career Fair

FREE EVENT! Explore Austin is designed to provide access to the outdoors for sixth through twelfth graders, with much of our programming taking place at parklands and recreational areas managed by the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department. The TPWD Career Fair is a FREE opportunity for the Explore Austin community to learn about the many career opportunities available within 13 divisions at 200 locations across Texas, including jobs within state parks, fisheries, law enforcement, legal, communications, infrastructure, information technology, human resources and more. Spanish interpretation and translation of materials will be provided.

Join us to explore your own career path from outdoor jobs at our state parks to desk jobs supporting TPWD’s important work in managing and conserving the natural and cultural resources of Texas.

Who: The Explore Austin community — Explorers and their families (parents, siblings, guardians, etc.), and Explorer and Mentor alumni; FREE EVENT!

When: Saturday, September 14, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

What: An opportunity to learn about the many career opportunities available at Texas Parks & Wildlife, with representatives from departments across the agency.

Explore Austin está diseñado para brindar acceso al aire libre a estudiantes de sexto al doce grado, y gran parte de nuestro programa se lleva a cabo en parques y áreas recreativas administradas por el Departamento de Parques y Vida Silvestre de Texas (TPWD). Our Summer Wilderness Trips conclude at the end of July, and school-year programming begins in September. Volunteer with us in August to help us get our Warehouse back in tip-top shape before the fall semester launches. Available shifts include:

  • August 7 & 9: Warehouse Restoration – Unloading vehicles and organizing gear
  • August 14 & 16: Full Inventory – Counting gear to identify gaps, and identifying gear that needs repair or replacement

Volunteer Opportunities: Warehouse Inventory

“Friends of Explore Austin” Fall Fling

Friends of Explore Austin (EA) is a new group composed of young, working professionals who care about EA’s mission.

Activities include networking and social opportunities, one-off volunteer opportunities with EA, exclusive mission updates from EA’s leadership, fundraising and championing EA in a variey of ways throughout the year, recruiting Mentors and other volunteers, and more.
