Carlin Van Holmes

Carlin is a Program Coordinator at Explore Austin. Carlin was born and raised in Seattle and spent weekends exploring, hiking, and paddling through remote areas of Hood Canal. She attended Cornell University, majoring in Psychology and doing research in Behavioral Economics. Carlin joins Explore Austin after completing a year of service as an AmeriCorps VISTA in Minneapolis, where she was committed to reducing economic and legal disparities for minority communities.
She taught sailing lessons in Minneapolis throughout high school and college. There, she encouraged her students to become confident, independent sailors and developed a deep appreciation for experiential, hands-on learning. Her position as a Program Assistant at Explore Austin combines this passion with her love of event planning and coordination. Carlin is so excited to be working with such amazing staff, mentors, and Explorers, and she cannot wait to see Explorers develop skills at Saturday Challenges and put them into action during their Summer Wilderness Trips!
Outside of the office, Carlin loves biking, sailing, yoga, Ultimate Frisbee, and ice cream.
