Brian is a relatively recent transplant to Austin, moving here in the summer of 2015 to attend the University of Texas' McCombs School of Business, where he obtained an M.S. in Business Analytics. Having graduated last May, he now works as a Data Scientist at HomeAway. While Brian is not a Texas native, he certainly has embraced the Austin culture - the springs and swimming holes in the summer, the queso, the live music, the (relative) proximity to Big Bend National Park, and the lack of winter are all big pluses. Prior to moving to Austin, Brian lived in Portland, Prague, Philadelphia and Hawaii.
When Brian was in high school, he was also part of an outdoor leadership and self-discovery club in his hometown of Portland, Oregon. Going into the outdoors to learn about yourself and others was one of Brian's most important life experiences, and something that he continues to derive value from today. Brian even worked for a number of years as a professional mountain climbing guide during the summers in Oregon and Washington following his graduation from his high school outdoors club. Now that he is part of the Explore Austin mentorship group, he is very excited to spread his passion for the outdoors to others, and help new explorers have these same terrific experiences.
