Anita started off in Austin but considers herself a native of the world. She got her B.A. in Psychology at the University of Rochester and studied abroad in France, Spain, Mexico and Peru. She began her career working with at-risk youth at Mt. Hope Family Center before becoming a Peace Corps Volunteer. She spent 2 years in El Paraiso, Honduras, primarily doing HIV/AIDS prevention work and environmental education. Anita is currently getting her Masters in Social Work at The University of Texas. She also is the Director of Nature Discovery Camp at El Ranchito that is a residential nature immersion camp for underserved youth. Anita is extremely grateful for the mentors in her life who encouraged her to travel, explore and learn. She is excited to be apart of Explore Austin so she can be a supportive and guiding mentor for the 2019 Explorers!
